People simply have a hard time accepting that the world (their world) might change though most are unhappy with their world. And since the “concept of 2012 ” is five years out, today has more problems than they can handle so, 2012 will have to wait until 2007 is done, 2008 has been lived, etc. Looking back to the days when the geocentric concept was replaced by the heliocentric paradigm, there was as much denial then about the change as there is today about a possible change in consciousness. Ideas and concepts that we find compelling today, were not compelling in 1500CE. That’s life. And God help the person that gets in the way with a new TRUTH!
Today it is too easy to lose sight of how bold and seemingly reckless were the scientists, philosophers, and religious leaders of the 1500′s (can you say Luther?). But, there is a period in history that I liken the current times, the run up to 2012, and beyond 2012. When people ask me how could major changes be made in such a short time, I have to smile when I remember not only the 1450-1550CE era, but more importantly. the axial age!
The axial age?
German philosopher Karl Jaspers coined the term the Axial Age to describe the period from 800-200 BCE, during which revolutionary thinking appeared in China, India and the Occident. Jaspers saw common developments in religion and philosophy in these regions without any obvious direct transmission of ideas from one region to the other, having found no recorded proof of any extensive inter-communication between Ancient Greece, the Middle East, India and China. Jaspers held up this age as unique, and one to which the rest of the history of human thought might be compared.
Are we now headed to what history might look back on as Axial Age II?
And if the radical consciousness which the world experienced then was as great as it was in such a sort period of time, how much greater, exponentially, can it be now?
Radical changes of the old forms of religious thinking is happening everywhere. The Catholic church is reeling and mainline Protestants denominations are buckling. As Neale Donald Walsch wrote: yesterday’s God cannot serve tomorrows world. Any influence the established religions have is rapidly diminishing in much of the west. We appear to lie again on the cusp of an important religious experiment.” But, no area of life will be untouched.
A great awakening is on the way- is NOW!
And my next post will take this concept a little deeper and reveal that the Axial Age can be reduced from 600 years (800-200BCE) to just 50 years (600-550BCE), which says to me that an Axial Age II can easily happen in 5 years.
Are you listening?
