Let’s make it simple and say that ontology is the study of BEING- how it is that you and I live and are here. Mainstream science can give us part of the answer- the middle part. However, the book ends can’t be helped by science because science only deals with physical realities. Life is much, much more than that you know.
Let me break it down into three nice and easy to handle compartments.
Scientists see matter, we mystics (that would be me) see spirit or consciousness.
The first ontological argument is that haled my sciecne which says the material world is all ther is. Get it while you can. Get it while you are young because this is all you’re gonna get baby. Go for the gusto. No need to worry about ethics, helping your neighbor and you sure don’t want a wife, husband, or kids to get in the way of your pleasures.
And by the way, if there is some sort of consciousness, it comes from the BRAIN! It has a physical locality you know.
The second ontological argument is a compromised mix. Yeah things are mostly (90%) matter, but there may be some “other” as well. Maybe this is what chaos theory is all about. But what we do know is that IF there really is some consciousness, which is grudgingly given, it surely doesn’t exist beyond death.
If Planet X hits us in 2012, that’s pretty much the end for us all. Lights out baby! No hasta la vista, leugo, or coming baaaaack!
The third ontological argument says that matter is secondary to consciousness. God forbid! While the brain is a great data processor that we don’t use enough, consciousness came before and consciousness will be after- and forever. In other words, consciousness exists apart from our bodies. So, if we do have that galactic plane crossing in 2012 or a pole shift, we be safe indeed!
That’s where I’m casting my bets. Want odds? ![]()
