If the world is going to see any substantial increase in the collective consciousness, there will have to be a de-emphasis of religious culture which is so fragmented and self-invested that an honest objectivity cannot be accomplished. The replacement needs to be a Christ consciousness. After all, that’s the journey that Jesus took and He said for us to “follow Him”- from a church culture to a Christ consciousness.
William Irwin Thompson put it this way, ” Our present impasse does not tell the whole story. Something else is taking place as well- a sidereal movement of consciousness returning us to levels of awareness denied and repressed by the materialist thrust of our religious civilizations.” Foundational to this transference is the need to understand anew and properly the role of MYTH!
Myths hold the water of our faith and lead us to a more holistic understanding our our universe.
Every culture is based on a myth(s). These myths form the basis of our collective unconscious from which societal behaviors flow effortlessly and without conscious awareness. Isn’t it scary that we make 7-9,000 unconscious decisions on a daily basis? And where did those habits originate? In order to know, we must go beyond the spiritual veil.
One of the factors that have contributed to our loss of the meaning and depths of myth has been our pre-occupation with time- and the linear application therein. Ancient cultures followed more of a circular or cyclical approach to life and the cosmos. Most of the time these patterns were syncronized with the immense gyrations of the stars, planets, and universe. In other words, they were ONE with the Creator far more than we.
Monuments abound as proof of their energies: Stonehenge, Chaco Canyon, the Pyramids of Egypt and the Yucatan. We lvie in a living cosmos that we need to get reaquainted with as fast as we can. Our universe is a conscious one. The sooner we can move from our religious practices that simply do not work: not because the founders who brought us the truths were wrong, but because we’ve mis-interpreted their messages. We’ve codified that which was meant to be a living organism. From the religious purity codes to the fundamental scientific beliefs, we must arise and awaken to our true identity.
