Mount Kilimanjaro Message

What was it about 3114BCE that changed the world and are we now entering a similar epoch, both of which have messages to be found in Mount Kilimanjaro. Say what? Kilimanjaro with its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is an inactive stratovolcano in north-eastern Tanzaniarising 15,100 ft. from its base, and is additionally the highest peak in Africa at 19,340 ft, providing a dramatic view of the surrounding plains. Without it, tourist trade in Kenya would be minimal. And?

Much of our known history of the planet comes from ice boring from the North and South pole; however, what’s not been readily available is information on our history from around the equator. It’s really difficult to find any icebergs around the equator. And that’s where Kilimanjaro comes in that Hemingway made famous. And here’s whee a glaciologist by the name of Lonnie Thompson comes in.

Lonnie Thompson is a paleoclimatologist and Distinguished University Professor in the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University. He has achieved global recognition for drilling ice cores from mountain glaciers and ice caps in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. He and his wife, Ellen Mosley-Thompson, run the ice core paleoclimatology research group at the Byrd Polar Research Center.

And you thought you knew it all! :-)

There’s no doubt in Lonnie’s mind that our planet is experiencing major and traumatic changes from some sort of warming: global or galactic. To quote him, “The evidence is clear that a major climate change is under way.” We’re too caught up in the economic changes to bother. And it is Lonnie’s thesis that sometime between 2012-2015 ALL of the snow and ice caps on Kilimanjaro will be gone. So for him, it’s a race against time to do his core drillings; however, the major problems will be the loss of water, drought, more famine, shortage of hydroelectric power, and a regional, leading to global domino effect on climate.

The theory holds that around 3114, according to dozens of cultures and societies, there was a major change in solar flares going from greatly reduced coronal mass ejections, to greatly expanded ones which turned much of Africa (as just one example) from a lush green paradise to a desert. From places like Kenya’s Kilimanjaro and Peru’s Quelccaya ice caps, Thompson has discovered highly unusual plant fossils which were carbon dated to 45-50,000 years ago meaning these ice caps have beena round that long for those plants to still be so well preserved.

Could the message be that life is about to be drastically altered? Maybe around 2012? :-)
