The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs that cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on December 21 which is said to be the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mayan Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this date have been proposed, but few have been accepted by mainstream scholarship. One concept that has grabbed the attention of many scholars is what’s called the “novelty theory”.

Technology, population, speed of travel, food and materials production, communications capabilities, computing power, the decrease in computer size, amount of information known to humanity, and a gamut of other things, are all increasing at an accelerating rate. That is, they are increasing, and the rate at which they are increasing is increasing.

How far can we exponentially keep up this pace?

Mathematicians have plotted the asymptotic graphs of all of humanity’s technological developments and projected them out to the point where they all, relatively simultaneously, hit infinity. Is that possible? For those that pursued such an endeavor arrived at a date infamously known as December 21st, 2012. Is this NOVELTY truly a date when everything as we know it will change?

Terrance McKenna thinks so: and he’s not alone.

Our planet has experienced exponential jumps in time (can you say axial age?), near extinctions, and some major species-changing events in our history. The Agricultural Revolution, Industrial Revolution, and The Information Revolution are three of the biggest. But, now we’re into totally un-chartered waters dealing with things such as nano-technology producing microscopic computers (that are millions of times faster and more powerful than the supercomputers of today).

Unfortunately, Terrance McKenna passed away on April 3rd, 2000, but we are left with his novelty theories and Timewave Zero concepts to pursue.

McKenna’s theory said that as the complexity and sophistication of human thought and culture increases, a factor he called ‘universal novelty’ approaches a curve of infinite exponential growth. He called this the ‘omega point’. In the time immediately prior to, and during the ‘omega point of infinite novelty’, anything and everything conceivable to the human imagination will occur simultaneously. McKenna fixed the date of this historical endpoint as December 21, 2012, the end of the long count of the Mayan calendar.

Does anyone know for sure?

What we do know is that the frequency, the resonance, and the heartbeat of the earth is on the move and increasing. Can we stay the same in light of such movement? Are we not one with all? The earth is alive and becoming more so and we must “go with that flow” regardless of what unbelievable “novelties” come. They really can’t be stopped; however, we can and should stop long enough to discern the subtle body that we and all are.

It amazes me that there are still hundreds of millions of people who have no clue about the 2012 meme. One would think that in our digital, instant text-messaging world that such a major phenomenon (regardless of what it may be) would be known in some sense to all. And the meme does cover the bases: from the end of the world to the beginning of a new race that some call homo luminous.

As David Wilcox (aka Edgar Cayce reincarnated) recently wrote, “The events on the planet are coming together now at an incredible speed. The biggest story at the moment is the fall of the Rockefeller faction, which is the main group behind the UFO cover-up and suppression of over 6000 patents that could give us free energy, gravity control, water cars, incredible healing devices, Stargate teleportation, interstellar travel and even time travel.”

Now that’s definitely BIG NEWS!

What we know is that we’re living in very strange times: very dangerous times! It is obvious that the world cannot continue in the direction that it going with another BILLION people being added to the dwindling resources on the planet. Something has to give and I am sure that the animals of this planet feel it more than we. The earth is shaking like never before. Earthquakes in Chicago? Yep, that happened Wednesday.

And don’t forget the record setting Yellowstone mini massive (1,200+) earth tremors.

Is there a frequency shift going on, triggered by our position in the galaxy? Will this photon belt of 26,000 year crossing of the galactic plane somehow change our DNA, open us up to some insight into who we really are as spiritual beings? Therein are the two polarities. Things can’t the same so will it be warfare or wonderment. Amazing, and sad, that we even have to ASK that question!

The end of the world, the coming of a new world, an exponential jump in consciousness, or whatever direction you might be coming from, there seems to be “something” on the way! Carl Jung proposed a concept called SYNCHRONICITY for what he saw building and accumulating in our world. For Jung, synchronicity explained how connections could be made between groups without direct connections.

Some four decades later Rupert Sheldrake came up with a new term- morphic fields!

This morphic field was something akin to the on-off switches as protein receptors are to our DNA. We are one living in a holographic universe and all organisms carry signals that include thoughts past and present. Exactly what that means is far beyond our current understanding though we are gaining insight quickly. John Gribbin writes, “The conditions in our universe seem to be uniquely suitable for life forms like ours.”

Well, Duh!

Sheldrake postulated that, “Morphic fields are as physically real as gravitation or electromagnetism and not a bland background abstraction, but a structure, which actively shapes and includes everything that exists or happens within the physical universe.” We live with intelligent fields which live with a field of “the Intelligence.” Try to wrap your mind around that. Better yet, grasp what the following experiment meant.

You ready for this?

Russian scientists took a mother rabbit who just had eight babies and put this rabbit on a submarine. True story! The sub went to sea for 4 months. Remember, they don’t have a humane society for animals in Russia (I jest- I think). They randomly over the four months killed a rabbit, then, another, then another. Meanwhile mama rabbit has been eating carrots and showing no remorse or behavior habit changes.

There was one issue though.

Mama rabbit was wired and monitored for her integral rhythms, heat beat, brain waves, etc. At exactly the time that a baby rabbit was killed, there was a major disturbance in the data being monitored. Something, a field maybe, within the rabbit KNEW what was not consciously known, nor physically demonstrated in any external change. As Rupert Sheldrake says, a single bee has its own field which exists within a field of bees, which exists within a resonating field of all insects, ad infinitum!

Much is now happening, very quickly, even in stealth, and yet there’s a consciousness that knows. Whatever is building will be known long before December 21, 2012: but surely on that date we’ll look back in amazement and wonder. Might we call it a 2012 Final Fantasy?
