Who Is Nostradamus
Nostradamus is probably the most well know “2012 prophet”, and he lived in the 1500s. His real name, Michel de Nostredame, was a French apothecary, author, translator, and seer. He published a collection of prophecies which have been world renowned for their legitimacy throughout the ages.
Nostradamus’ writings were a bit cryptic and written in “quatrains”. His prophecy almanac isn’t the only thing he published however. He had a few other writings containing medical information, translation material, and more.
Nostradamus turned his attention from medicine to prophecies in the mid 1500s, and it took off fast. He began to create several calendars, as well as a slew of prophetic almanacs that led to him having up to approximately 6,338 prophecies. He also ventured into things such as horoscopes and similar topics with his new seer position. After this is when he began the creation of his famous book, The Prophecies.
Nostradamus and 2012
While Nostradamus is quite famous for some of his other prophecies such as a few major natural disasters, and some even believe the Twin Towers tragedy, his cryptic style leaves a lot open to interpretation.
As a side note, the History Channel even aired a documentary with the topic of Nostradamus relating to the 2012 prophecy.
So what exactly does Nostradamus predict? The gist of it is a giant comet is headed our way in 2012 – and he means really big, like the size of Jupiter. Even if a comet that came close to the size of our planet passed too close..it could throw off Earth’s gravity causing all kinds of natural disasters and who knows what else.
He goes into fair detail within his quatrains, mentioning the prophecy of the comet and that it will be seen well in advance.
“In the sky will be seen a great fire dragging a trail of sparks.
The Great Star will blaze for Seven days”.
-Nostradamus
